Description
The Mondrian House is at Kortegracht 11 in Amersfoort. Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan ( † New York 1944) was born here in 1872, the son of a headmaster. The family lived on the Kortegracht until 1880. Piet Mondriaan began his career with naturalistic portraits and landscapes but he became world famous as one of the founders of abstract art. His ideas have influenced generations of artists after him.
